Hot-Tea Tea Tags Freebie + DIY Tea Bags

Hey Dolls! I have another DIY for you, just in time for Mother's Day! A homemade tea blend makes for a super thoughtful gift to share with all of the special moms in your life! These tea bags are perfect for Mother's Day but would be a wonderful gift any time of the year, as well as, an amazing shower or party favor.

Freebie - Meal Planning Printable

Homemade tea is something I have gifted many times in the past and has become heavily requested since. My mom loves the Blueberry Tea and Orange Cinnamon Tea blends (keep reading for recipes).

The first few times I made my own tea bags I followed a DIY I found on Pinterest that used cheesecloth to create the tea bags. It's a great DIY but super time consuming. The instructions were to cut the cheesecloth into squares, pour your tea blend on the cheesecloth then wrap up the bundle and secure it with string. This process took me FOREVER and the tea bags were a little labor of love everytime I made them. Since then I have found a much easier way to create them using pre-made drawstring tea bags and man are they a game changer!

FOR THIS YOU WILL NEED:

8.5 x 11 cardstock or paper for the tags

Tea Blend

Measuring Spoons

Scissors

Stapler

Step 1: Print your tea tags. I used 65 lb pink cardstock from Michaels. Cut out tags along dotted line. Note: If you're making more than one tea blend I recommend using different colored paper for each blend.

Step 2: Fill you tea bags with 1 - 2 tablespoons of your tea blend. Keep reading for my favorite homemade tea blends.

Step 3: Pull the drawstring and tie in a double knot to secure.

Step 4: Tie a knot at the end of the string and staple the tea tag around the knot. That's it! Super easy!

Next wrap up your tea bags to gift. I used these boxes I had from the Paper Source for the photo but I will be gifting them in a larger box like this.

And be sure to use our Tea Labels (included in the download) to label your gift boxes or bags with the name of your tea blend. The labels can be printed on 1.5" square Avery labels or full sheet labels and cut out individually.

These are my favorite homemade tea blends.

ORANGE CINNAMON TEA

3.5 tablespoons Ceylon Tea

3 teaspoons dried orange rind

3 teaspoons cinnamon

1 crushed cinnamon stick

BLUEBERRY PECAN BLACK TEA

6 tablespoons dried blueberries

5 tablespoons pecans

3 tablespoons black tea

APRICOT GINGER GREEN TEA WITH TOASTED COCONUT

2 tablespoons dried apricot, cut into small pieces

2 tablespoons dried ginger, cut into small pieces

2 tablespoons toasted coconut

1 tablespoon loose green tea

Combine the ingredients in a bowl and then scoop 1 - 2 tablespoons (depending upon your preference) of the blend into each tea bag. When I am gifting these tea blends often double or triple the recipe to make enough tea bags to gift.
